QUAD 606 is a high-power two-channel power amplifier intended for use in the highest quality sound systems.
QUAD 606 employs QUAD's unique, patented Current-Dumping output circuit, which eliminates many of the problems associated with transistor amplifiers.
QUAD's 606 employs a low-power Class A amplifer operating in parallel with a high-power Class AB amplifier; the low-power section controling the loudspeakers at all times, and the high-power section providing the muscle when called for. Sound quality is solely dependent on the Class A low-power section.
There are no internal adjustments in the QUAD 606.
Problems with quiescent current adjustment, thermal tracking, transistor matching, crossover "notch" distortion, high heat and power consumption, etc, are eliminated.
